In the area

The historic dock areas, including Albert Dock, are easily reachable within a 5-15 minute walk, as are all of the museums and art galleries (which are generally free, incl. the Tate Art Gallery, Walker Art Gallery and Liverpool World Museum) and the Pier Head and many nighttime attractions, including restaurants and a lively pub and bar scene. Liverpool One shopping district begins 100 m from the apartment, and the area is fully pedestrianised and designed specifically for wheelchair accessibility, with a city park, cinema, and many restaurants within. The wider city centre is renowned for its busy nightlife and is equally highly accessible, with the vast majority of premises having step-free access and wheelchair-friendly toilets available, including the famous Cavern Club, where the Beatles made their name. Wheelchair-accessible taxis are readily available and cheap, and all taxis that may be flagged down on street must have wheelchair access by law. There are wheelchair accessible walks that can be done from the front door, including for several km along the waterfront on both sides of the river, the far side of which can be reached using the Mersey Ferries service, which is also wheelchair accessible and is within a ten minute walk. Further afield, the local train service and bus services are all fully wheelchair accessible and allow access to many parks, including Sefton Park as well as Formby Beach and Woods Nature Reserve. A hand cycle with accompanying wheelchair may also be available for use together with a Trekinetic off-road wheelchair, subject to arrangements being made with me. The apartment can also be used as an ideal base to explore further afield around the region, including: - The city of Manchester - Historical Chester with its Roman remains and Tudor shopping streets - The many international golf tournaments held in Merseyside - Trips to watch Premier League football at Anfield or Goodison Park Slightly further away, there are the beautiful Lake District and Snowdonia National Parks within an approximately a 2-hour drive.
